Baby acne is really common, about 1 in 5 babies get it. The good news is that the baby blemishes usually go away their own in about three to six months’ time, and you don’t need to do anything to treat it in the meantime. No one knows for sure what causes baby acne, but the theory goes that the high levels of hormones from birth cause excess oil production, and the oils become trapped in baby’s pores, just like surging levels of hormones can trigger acne in teenagers.is there anything i can do for my baby’s acne? she is only 3 weeks old and she has acne on her face.”
There isn’t anything you can do to help baby acne go away faster, unfortunately, and acne washes and creams for adults and teenagers are potentially dangerous. Instead, just keep the area clean by dabbing gently with a washcloth dipped in warm water, then pat dry. Keep your baby’s nails trimmed to prevent scratching, and don’t try to squeeze, lance, or scrub them, or do anything else that might cause scarring. If the acne doesn’t clear up or looks really red and inflamed, talk to your pediatrician. And do still take lots of baby photos- you can always retouch the zits later if you want to.
