hi i have had an iud in me for 7 months now always got my period 30 apart i havent got my period yet i am 5 days late late month i had a biopsy what does this mean???”
Periods can be delayed sometimes due to stress, dietary changes, or hormonal shifts. Having a biopsy, which is when a sample of cells or tissue is taken and analyzed to help a health care provider diagnose a medical condition, will typically heal rather quickly and shouldn’t have any effect on your periods. However, stress — which you probably experienced because of a suspected medical condition and the biopsy — can cause ovulation to be delayed, and that can cause your period to be delayed. The chance of your becoming pregnant with an intrauterine device (IUD) in place is really small (as in, less than 1 in 100), so while it’s possible it’s unlikely the pregnancy is the cause. However, if your period still doesn’t come after a few days, you should take a pregnancy test just to be sure. Check just to make sure that you can still feel the IUD string.
