I am 11 weeks pregnant and I want to know if using an Elliptical machine is safe and until when can I use it. I have no health problems.”
Unless your health care provider tells you to abstain from exercise, staying active is good for you and your baby-to-be during pregnancy. An elliptical machine is an excellent choice for a pregnant cardiovascular workout, because it puts less pressure on your joints than running on a treadmill or hard surface.
You can still strain a muscle or become injured, though: while you’re pregnant your muscles are more easily strained, and your center of gravity is constantly shifting, so it’s important to periodically check your posture to make sure that your spine is straight and in a neutral position, your knees, hips and ankles are in alignment, and your weight is being evenly distributed between your heels and the balls of your feet. Get off of the machine if anything starts to hurt or you feel dizzy or short of breath to the point you can’t talk easily.
