I have had two boys 17 and 12 and this pregnancy was totally unexpected, I’m 36 yrs old a very high risk pregnancy that is diabetic on a insulin pump and every day all I think about is can I do this again ? I am so scared it’s unreal I don’t know if I can go thru the pain all over AGAIN the last 2 times I just wanted to die it was so painful and I am VERY SCARED and I am totally stressing myself out thinking about it ! ” HELP ”

Deep breaths! Yes, labor and childbirth can be painful, and being in a high-risk category adds to the stress. It may not be possible for labor, birth and recovery to be painless, but here are some things that can help: First, stay in close contact with your diabetes management team and stay on top of your blood glucose levels, especially as your insulin requirements increase during the second half of pregnancy. When it comes to dealing with the worry and stress, it can be a big help to hire a doula or labor assistant and develop a birth plan. Let her, and your doctor, know you have no interest in going without pain medication and that you expect it as soon as possible in the hospital. With your doula, develop pain-management and relaxation techniques for the time before the epidural arrives. You can do it!
