We talked to expectant moms about their worries when it comes to breastfeeding and their top answers are below. Do you have a worry on the list?

“I’m scared of sore nipples.”

It is true most women, especially first-time moms, will experience sore nipples for the first week as lactation starts. But the soreness usually does go away within days- good latch and positioning can help.

“I’m just going to have to go back to work.”

Even if you only have a few weeks of maternity leave, it’s better to have breastfed and stopped than never tried at all. Your baby will get health benefits, and you may be able to continue by pumping or nursing part-time. And you can also combine breastfeeding and formula.

“It’ll make my chest saggy.”

Pregnancy and postpartum breast changesand stretching will make your chest saggier than before-baby if you breastfeed or not. In fact, letting your chest get engorged will make the skin stretching worse, and trying to limit feedings may slow down production and weigh your bust down in the process. For an optimal bustline better to feed on demand and then wean gradually.

Breastfeeding in public is awkward.”

When it comes to nursing in public places, reports of finger-wagging strangers are exaggerated. All you need is a good nursing shirt or scarf  to keep prying eyes from telling the difference between a nurse and a cuddle.

My breasts are too small to breastfeed.”

Breast size doesn’t matter. Large breasts store more milk, and small ones make milk faster.
