This is my second child, how soon can I feel movements?”

Moms-to-be typically report feeling movement for the first time at some point between weeks 16 and 20, though if you’ve been pregnant before you may feel those first little tickles as soon as week 14-15. Though the fetus starts to wiggle during week 7, it takes a while for bones to harden and grow long enough for you to feel it! Moms who have been pregnant before will feel movement earlier on because they can recognize the sensation, and also because their abdominal muscles relax sooner into the pregnancy, and that makes it easier for the fetus to connect. It can take longer to feel movement if you’re overweight, or if the placenta happens to be attached to the front of the uterus. If you haven’t felt any movement by 22 weeks, let your health care provider know.
