Pregnant, Am I Sleeping Too Much?

Is it normal to sleep every couple hours every time you eat and after walking or exercise? how much sleep is too much?”

It’s normal to feel more tired than usual when you’re pregnant- your body is supporting two people, after all. Plus nausea can lead to low blood sugar, and weird dreams and constant bathroom trips can interrupt sleep, too.

Most women report feeling fatigued in the first and third trimesters, and more energized in the second. This is because during the first weeks of pregnancy your body uses a lot of energy to build the baby’s environment, and during the third trimester, you’re carrying a lot of weight and may find it harder to get quality sleep. But if it’s the second trimester and you’re still feeling constantly tired, even after having a good night’s rest, or if you regularly sleep more than nine hours out of every 24, then mention this to your health care provider so he or she can make sure that your tiredness isn’t caused by anemia, a thyroid issue, vitamin deficiency or depression.

Also consider that you might be working out for too long- no need to do more than 30-45 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise a day- it’ll just make you hungry and tired.
