I’m 4 months pregnant and i have a frequent exposure to radiation from a xerox machine, what would be the effect to my baby?”

This is completely safe.

The only kind of radiation that photocopy machines emit is plain and harmless light, just like the kind that comes from the flash of a camera. The light has no effect on the baby or on you (though opening the copier and staring directly at the flash could make you see spots for a minute or so). The light flash that the copier makes causes electrons in the copier’s drum to produce a positive static charge, using the same kind of static electricity that makes socks stick to your jeans in the dryer. The negatively charged toner is attracted to this positively charged image, and then the ink is transferred to a positively charged sheet of paper. This static electricity isn’t dangerous to you or the baby either. So to make a long story short, you can make copies all day long—there’s nothing to worry about!
