I’m 16 weeks pregnant and was overweight before I got pregnant and I’m just wondering if it’s normal to not really be showing yet. I kept losing weight even though I was eating and the doctor said it was alright since I’m overweight. I’m just curious because I would love to be showing. I feel people can’t even tell yet.
Standards for how much weight to gain or whether to lose weight during pregnancy have gone back and forth through the years. The current opinion is if you’re overweight, gaining 15 pounds or even losing some weight with exercise and a high-nutrient diet are healthy things to do for both yourself and your baby. But, we’re not talking driving yourself to exhaustion at the gym! Simple walking and easy stretch moves work just fine. Some ample-bodied moms-to-be never appear to show that they’re pregnant, others show much earlier or only begin to have a visible bulge the last few months before they are due. Then again, your larger breasts may give you way, although they may overshadow your enlarging belly. It may interest you to know that some overweight moms end up with surprisingly firm bellies as pregnancy progresses (then again others find it firm in the middle and soft above and below).
