Pregnant, How to Get My Energy Back?

Marcie Jones Leave a Comment

Before I got pregnant after work I would go workout to the gym. I weight 129 lbs. and was trying to get tone. Now I just can’t go to the gym I get home, have dinner, and sleep. My body just gives out. I gain weight 10 lbs. in just a 6 weeks. I’m afraid that if I don’t get my energy back soon. I’ll gain extremely a lot of weight. I don’t know what to do to get my energy back. So I could go back to workout? I need help. By the way I’m a carpenter so my job is very physical.”

Honestly, it sounds like you’re just trying to do too much and your pregnant body just can’t keep up! You feel wiped out while you’re pregnant because your body is already getting a workout from the inside out. Veins have widened and your body’s making more blood and body fluids to support the baby, and that means your heart has to work harder to make circulation happen. If you don’t get enough fluids or minerals and vitamins in your diet, the unmet demand will also make you more easily dehydrated, dizzy and/or anemic.

But there’s good news, most women report feeling much more energetic in the second trimester. Hormone levels stabilize, nausea usually eases up and the baby eases off of your bladder and into a more comfortable position in your pelvis. And don’t stress your weight too much: after pregnancy, if you go back to your pre-baby diet and exercise and especially if you breastfeed beyond six months, you’ll go back to your pre-baby weight, eventually.
