Is it safe to use Sweet-N-Low while pregnant or should I avoid it?”
Sweet ‘N Low is a trademarked brand of granulated saccharin, an artificial sweetener. Saccharin was introduced in 1907, but even after more than a century still not a lot is known about its affect on pregnant women or fetuses. We do know that saccharin crosses the placenta and circulates in the fetal blood. Still, no studies have found a conclusive association between saccharin and birth defects or a higher rate of miscarriage. So your choice to use it depends on weighing the risk versus the benefit – is “probably safe” safe enough for you, or would you feel better drinking your tea unsweetened or with sugar?
