Is It Normal to Have a Lot of Vaginal Discharge?

Marcie Jones 1 Comment

Is having more discharge during pregnancy normal?”

It’s very normal and healthy to have more white or clear vaginal discharge while you’re pregnant. Producing more discharge is the way your cervix and vagina wash out old cells and bacteria, which protects you and the baby from infection. If you need to absorb the flow, try an unscented panty liner—don’t use tampons, soap, douche or rinse with anything other than plain, clear water. If the discharge is any color other than white or has an unpleasant smell, or you experience any vaginal irritation, burning or itching, let your health care provider know. Also call your health care provider know right away if you experience a panty-soaking trickle of watery fluid; this may be a sign that your amniotic sac has ruptured. Otherwise, take the discharge as a good sign that your body is working hard to keep your baby safe and clean!

I never had a chemical pncgnarey, but I did have a miscarriage. Three weeks later, I got pregnant with my first son now healthy and beautiful at age 8 years. I also have a lovely 2 year old now. It can be done. Just keep trying! I hope everything works out for you! Good luck to you!
