I have been wondering if bike riding for exercise while pregnant can be good or bad? I like to ride a bike and would like to continue doing so while pregnant. If it is only good for a certain amount of time during pregnancy how long?”
Bike-riding is great exercise, and fairly safe so long as you wear a good helmet, use your mirrors and stay alert. Use common sense and don’t take any risks, especially during the second half of your pregnancy when your weight and center of gravity has changed, throwing off your balance. Because an accident with a vehicle could be devastating avoid busy roads whenever you can (or if you’re just biking for exercise, try a stationary bike).
Before you start pedaling double-check that the seat height is adjusted properly so you don’t risk straining ligaments in your knees and ankles. Stop if you feel tailbone, back or joint pain.
Happy pedaling!
